Republic de San Marino is a country situated in the Apennine Mountains. It is a landlocked enclave, completely surrounded by Italy. Its size is just over 61 km2. Its capital is the City of San Marino.

The First Tower of San Marino, also called Guaita, is the oldest of the three towers dominating the city. Its 11th-century central dungeon, which used to shelter the first inhabitants of Mount Titano, is also the oldest fortified construction of Italy. Restored in 1930, the Tower is now opened to the public. Two surrounding walls protect the Tower and a pretty portal, decorated with a baroque-style reproduction of San Marino's coat of arms, gives access to it. From the top of the bell tower, enjoy the beautiful view on the whole region.

  1. Ik heb ook een kaartje uit San Marino. Het was voor mij ook een verrassing dat het een "echt" land is. Nu nog kaartjes van Liechtenstein en Monaco. :P
