The Buddhist temple known as the ‘Bambaragala Viharaya’ is a large (rock) cave temple and dates back to the pre-Christian era.

Inside the cave temple there is a dagaba comparatively smaller in size for the devotees to venerate. On the rock surface inside the cave there are murals painted depicting 'Suvisi Vivaranaya' ( 24 Buddhas) giving their enunciation. The seated Buddhas have been painted within the frames using earth colours used in sittara art style. The floral designs and the borders add colour kto the figures painted inside the cave. The paintings belonged to the Kandyan period.
