AUSTRALIA ~Ceremony taking place on Nhulun~

...Received this awesome official postcard from "Down Under" (AU-184401)
Text on the back of the card:
Across Australia, Working on Country Indigenous rangers are employed to manage and protect our heritage and environment. The rangers gain qualifications in conservation and land management complementing traditional knowledge. The Working on Country program helps the rangers keep culture strong and support their communities!!
...I think all of those people have a very important task!! Thank you very much Samantha.:D:D

And with a set of 5 gorgeous stamps too...:D

This photo was taken during a welcome to country ceremony taking place on Nhulun, a registered Sacred Site in the middle of the Nhulunbuy township. This site has a great deal of cultural significance for the Yolngu of East Arnhem Land as it was the site of protests against the proposition of a bauxite mine being established in the area in the 1970s. Today its history is preserved by the Dhimurru Rangers and their families and is utilised for ceremonies such as this one to welcome visitors to the Nhulunbuy area.
