Sawtell is a coastal suburb of Coffs Harbour in northern New South Wales. The original inhabitants of the land were Aborigines of the Kumbaingeri clan. The Aboriginal name for the land where the town now stands was Bongil Bongil.
Sawtell's northern perimeter is defined by the Boambee Creek and scenic headland. Boambee Beach extends from Corambirra Point (near the Deep Sea Fishing Club) to Boambee Creek (north of Sawtell).
