Immediately when I picked this wonderful and UNESCO card out of my mailbox I noticed all the beautiful landscape around the Temple. I always thought of Beijing as a crowdy, busy city... Thanks to my postcards I....again discovered something new about a place!!!
And lovely stamps too.:)
The Temple of Heaven in Beijing is China's largest existing complex of ancient sacrificial buildings over an area of 273 hectares and it is three times the area of the Forbidden City. It was built in 1420 for emperors to worship Heaven. The principle buildings include the Altar of Prayer for Good Harvests, Imperial Vault of Heaven and Circular Mound Altar.
