PORTUGAL ~ Benagil - Algarve ~

... Nice view of a photo made into a postcard from a boat trip to the Benagil Cave... Portugal's Algarve is known for its rugged cliffs and colorful rock formations but there is a special gem... the Benagil  cave also known as “the Cathedral” is one of the most impressive and famous natural wonders of the Algarve... it is an open-sky cave, with a dream like sand beach inside... when visiting Benagil Sea Cave, you can admire the rock formations from above and explore the rest of the beach on foot, but the inside of the Benagil Cave can only be accessed by sea... you have the choice of either going by boat, kayak, paddleboard, or swimming the distance... Thanks Patricia for this lovely surpriseヽ(ヅ)ノ... must have been a magical place to visit!

Benagil is a small Portuguese fishing village on the Atlantic coast in Lagoa the Algarve.

The cliffs are made of limestone and, years after years, the waves and wind have created the cave, while the rainwater has made the opening on top of the cave. The Benagil Cave is more than 20 million years old.
