CZECH REPUBLIC ~ Lednice-Valtice Cultural Landscape - UNESCO ~

... Great monumental palace view... built on a hill with large walls for fortification around it... there are 100 impressive rooms in the four-wing building of the Chateau...one of the most impressive baroque residences of Central Europe... a pearl of Baroque architecture... home of the Czech National Wine Institute... and the town is the centre of wine making in the Czech Republic... the Lednice-Valtice cultural landscape is a large, man-made landscape designed by the Liechtenstein family according to the principles of the English landscape architecture... Thank you Michala!¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Valtice  is a small town in Břeclav District, South Moravian Region, close to the Austrian border.

Originally a Gothic castle founded in the 12thC, from 1530 Valtice became the place of residence for the princely family of Liechtenstein. A number of important architects of the 17th and 18thC provided its current shape.

In the 19th century major projects were started: the landscape became fashioned according to English romantic principles of landscape architecture under supervision landscape artist Bernhard Petri.

The landscape park has two centres:
Valtice Castle and town
Lednice Castle and village

In 1996, the castle and the castle park were listed by UNESCO as a WHS Heritage Site.
