NETHERLANDS ~ The Rijksmuseum - Amsterdam

The Rijksmuseum is the principal national museum in Holland. It illustrates the art and history of Holland from the Middle Ages to the present and is located at the Museum Square.

It has on display 8,000 objects of art and history, from their total collection of 1 million objects from the years 1200–2000, among which are some masterpieces by Rembrandt, Frans Hals, and Johannes Vermeer.

The museum also has a Asian collection which is on display in the Asian pavilion. It houses the museum’s rich collection of Asian art from China, Japan, Indonesia, India, Vietnam and Thailand, dating from 2000 B.C. to 2000 A.D. with a total of approximately 350 objects.
